Middle School Principal Awarded Doctorate

Earlier this month, Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 participated in the graduation festivities at Columbia International University. He was joined by his family, RCS Superintendent, Dr. Hearne, and former RCS Principal, Dr. 华纳. The hooding ceremony took place on Thursday, December 8 and the graduation on Friday, December 9th. Congratulations, Dr. 卡斯塔涅达!
On Friday, July 22, Redwood Christian Middle School Principal 艾伯特 卡斯塔涅达 was awarded his doctorate by Columbia International University. Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 completed his course work and dissertation in three years. His dissertation was titled “A Kingdom View of Christian Education” focusing on the “Perceptions of Pastors of Churches and Superintendents of Independent Christian Schools.” 
Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 graduated from Redwood Christian 高中 in 1984 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from BIOLA University (1991), and his Masters Degree from Chapman University in Education (2009). Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 returned to his alma mater as a Bible and Physical Education teacher and coach in 1991. He was named the Redwood Christian Middle School Principal in June 2022. He had been serving as Assistant Principal at Redwood Christian Middle School and 高中 since 2009.
Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 and his wife Julie (Perry-卡斯塔涅达, RCHS Class of 1987 and currently on staff) have four children: Alicia (Class of 2015), 乔尔(2017), Abigail (2022) and Joshua (Class of 2025). They live in Castro Valley and are active at Gateway Bible Church of Castro Valley, where he serves as an Elder.
Superintendent Emeritus Bruce D. Johnson remembers Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 as a high school athlete who modeled for his team and others the “very best of Christian traits in a young man and was recognized as someone with personal integrity and a strong work ethic. His wife, Julie, was our Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 1987. When he applied to teach at his alma mater after graduating from college in 1991, we hired him confident he would make the positive contributions he has made in the 32 years he has been on staff, and will make in the future.”
Dr. Al Hearne, Superintendent of Redwood Christian Schools, stated “Dr. 卡斯塔涅达 has persevered relentlessly over the past three years working on his doctorate while playing a key role during Covid ensuring that our students received a quality, Christ-centered education. Our entire school community recognizes him as a godly leader and is very proud of him.”
